SUP Splash Lanier 2012 is presented by Surfrider Foundation Atlanta Chapter in celebration of International Surfing Day.

Results are posted HERE. The gallery is HERE. Thanks to everyone for coming out to this event. We had 98 racers.

The event is hosted by Energy Water Sports at Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Please visit our sponsors who support this event. The event is free to attend for the public except for the $10 PER CAR fee at the gate. Race participants must register and pay the applicable race fee. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Surfrider Foundation Atlanta Chapter. The Race Director for this event is Steve Combs. You can reach him via the Contact page or by leaving a comment below.

$40 Race Fee (There is also a $10 gate/parking fee PER CAR, but this will be applied to your food purchase.)

Race Course
The Elite Division course will circumnavigate Lake Lanier Islands for a distance of 7.75 miles. The Recreational Division will be an out and back course of 3 miles. See below for additional race course information. Don’t let the long course scare you. If you want to paddle around the island, have paddled this distance before, and feel comfortable with the race day conditions, go for it.

Race Clinic
The 2011 SUP Splash Series Champion, Wes Stolp, will be conducting a FREE stand up paddle instructional clinic. The clinic will held after the race around lunch time.

Demo Paddle
Come try out lots of different SUPs. Dealers and outfitters will have free boards for your to paddle during and after the race.

Other Activities
Lake Lanier Islands Resort has lots of other activities for you post-race, including a water park, horseback riding, and zip lines. Check out the Activities page HERE. Additional charges apply.

Additional Information
Please note that this resort location is awesome but has a few rules. No outside food or drink is permitted at the beach or race area. There is an excellent bar and grill onsite. No pets are allowed. There is a $10 gate fee PER CAR and that amount will be credited towards your food purchase (alcohol excluded). We are also reducing the race fee by $5 to help fund food and beverages purchases. Lunch is available for purchase at the bar and grill.

Your race fee will include a Surfrider Foundation Atlanta Chapter t-shirt and a complimentary annual membership to Surfrider Foundation Atlanta Chapter (if you opt to join during the registration process). Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mall of Georgia, in Buford, GA (about 10 miles from race site) is offering a preferred rate of $85.00 rate plus tax. This offer is open until June 20 for racers that call and ask for the Surfrider Rate for Friday and/or Saturday night. The hotel telephone number is 678-318-1080.     • No problem. You can register onsite on Saturday. If anyone has any trouble with registration we will sort it out Saturday. I will have all the registration and payment records.

  6. Are there any race boards available to rent?

  7. Where do we put our SUP boards in? Are we going to have to carry them from the parking lot to the event??

    • The parking lot is at the top of a hill in the Sunset Cove lot above the beach. There are stairs and a paved sidewalk down to the beach. It’s a bit of a hike, but not too bad.

  8. Are there any special room rates or cabin rates at Lake Lanier for racers?
